A farewell to Mike Cox, an Advanced Maintenance Legend

It brings the team here great sadness to say farewell to Mike Cox who sadly passed away on the 24th November 2021 after a short battle with illness.

At Advanced Maintenance we like to call ourselves a family, and we certainly feel like one, but this has never been more the case than with the Cox family, with Mike’s son Marc, his brother Andy, his nephews Matt, and Kris all working alongside us today (this does not include the Cox’s that have worked for us previously).

Since the news came to the team, we have felt a great sadness. Mike is a legend to us all. He has touched each of our lives and since passing we have come together to share our wonderful memories of Mike, who whilst a fantastic storyteller himself, he also provided us many wonderful stories of our own, which of course he was a key part of and we will forever keep in our hearts. Our tale’s range between the extraordinary and the caring to the funny and loveable.

Joining Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd in 2008, Mike was the longest running office team member. His ability to build a strong relationship with his customers, meant he was a natural choice to be the face of the company when our largest customer (A2Dominion) moved over to us.

Mike lived and breathed his account, what he knew off the top of his head was truly awe inspiring. He was incredibly passionate about offering excellent service to his account, taking the time to know each scheme manager and tenant. He could easily provide a full history of each site despite there being hundreds if not thousands of them.

Mike was a man with so much about him. At first you would believe that Advanced Maintenance was Mike’s whole world, he was truly that passionate about it. But you would wrong. Beyond Advanced Maintenance Mike was dedicated to St Johns Ambulance, His caravanning club, gardening, and most of all his family.

Mike had a son and two daughters, each of whom have gone on to bless the family with grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy. Mike’s love for his family was something to behold, especially his love for his wife Marion. To hear him talk about her was both moving and inspiring. His love was never contained to just his words, you could see it all over his face.

Mike will be missed every single day, we will continue to do him proud and go forth with his level of enthusiasm, care and above all, do it with a smile on our faces as Mike did each day.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd!
by Kellie Pickett 5 May 2024
Today, the team at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd had the privilege of participating in Denefield School's Careers Day 2024. This event provided a unique opportunity for us to engage with bright young minds and share insights into the dynamic field of plumbing and maintenance. This year's event was particularly special for us as it allowed us to connect with students across all year groups and inspire the next generation of professionals. Our Director, Ricky Gale, led the charge, supported by Operations Manager Tony Williams, Accounts Assistant Donna Endean, and Quality Manager Kellie Pickett. Each team member brought their unique expertise and passion to the event, creating an enriching experience for the students. Throughout the day, the team engaged with students in meaningful discussions about the path to becoming a plumber. One of the most exciting aspects of our discussions was exploring the future technologies that await the next generation of plumbers. We delved into advancements such as smart plumbing systems, sustainable materials, and innovative tools that are set to revolutionise the industry. These technologies not only promise to make plumbing more efficient and environmentally friendly but also open up new avenues for innovation and career growth. A highlight of the day was the hands-on experience with the press gun, led by Tony and Ricky. The students' excitement and the brilliant results they achieved demonstrated the value of practical learning. A big thank you to Denefield School for the opportunity to participate in this inspiring event. The event not only allowed us to inspire young minds but also reinforced our commitment to community engagement and professional development. Engaging with the students and sharing our knowledge and passion was a rewarding experience for our team. Community engagement events like these are crucial for building a brighter future and fostering the next generation of leaders and innovators. We look forward to future collaborations and continuing to support the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we are building a brighter future.
