13 May 2019

Mental Health Awareness Support for our Staff and Customers

Mental Health Problems can affect anyone, any day of the year, but this week is a great time to have a chat with a friend, family member or colleague and have think about your own well being too.

Everyone has mental health and everyone should take steps to ensure their continued mental well being, Rethink Mental Illness have issued their 5 top tips for maintaining good mental well-being so you can continue to maintain good mental health;
  • Communicate Communication is important for our well being, s try and reach out, and have a chat about how your feeling on a regular basis. It can be something as simple as calling a friend on the phone or sending a text.
  • Keep Active - Staying active can make a big difference to both physical and mental well being: brisk walks to clear your mind, yoga to calm your thoughts, or a boxing session to de-stress. If you need more motivation, plan an activity with a friend or colleague.
  • Balance Your Diet - A varied diet can help both our physical and metal well being. Eating regular meals can ward off dips in blood sugar that can leave us feeling irritable and tired, and drinking lots of water can improve concentration and can help us think more clearly!
  • Feed your Creative Side - Listening to your favourite music, picking up a paintbrush, or putting a pen to paper - any activity that engages our creativity is an excellent way to support mental well being. Creative activities can help manage stress, provide a way to relax, and be in the moment.
  • Make Life Better For Others - Supporting other people is both a worthwhile activity, and one that can contribute to our own well being. Try helping out a neighbour, getting in touch with a friend or relative who may need some support, or volunteering for a local cause.
However, you may feel that your mental health is not in a positive place, it is important to remember that mental health issues can affect anyone at any time, whether it be work, home or seemingly nothing at all. If you are not feeling ok, even if you can't put your finger on what's wrong, please don't ignore the feeling and hope it goes away, instead take the time to consider your mental well being.

It hard to know where to start sometimes, the NHS advice recommends unless it is an emergency situation (In which case please contact 999 immediately) speaking with a colleague, friend or family member as soon as you are able.

Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd is making changes to ensure the mental well being of our employees and in July 2019 we will have our very first mental health first aider trained in preparation for mental well-being awareness training for the entire AMUK team to take place this summer.

Our Senior Management team have been working hard to ensure they have the knowledge and understanding required to help those in need and welcome any of our employees to come and talk to them at any time, about anything at all.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd!
by Kellie Pickett 5 May 2024
Today, the team at Advanced Maintenance UK Ltd had the privilege of participating in Denefield School's Careers Day 2024. This event provided a unique opportunity for us to engage with bright young minds and share insights into the dynamic field of plumbing and maintenance. This year's event was particularly special for us as it allowed us to connect with students across all year groups and inspire the next generation of professionals. Our Director, Ricky Gale, led the charge, supported by Operations Manager Tony Williams, Accounts Assistant Donna Endean, and Quality Manager Kellie Pickett. Each team member brought their unique expertise and passion to the event, creating an enriching experience for the students. Throughout the day, the team engaged with students in meaningful discussions about the path to becoming a plumber. One of the most exciting aspects of our discussions was exploring the future technologies that await the next generation of plumbers. We delved into advancements such as smart plumbing systems, sustainable materials, and innovative tools that are set to revolutionise the industry. These technologies not only promise to make plumbing more efficient and environmentally friendly but also open up new avenues for innovation and career growth. A highlight of the day was the hands-on experience with the press gun, led by Tony and Ricky. The students' excitement and the brilliant results they achieved demonstrated the value of practical learning. A big thank you to Denefield School for the opportunity to participate in this inspiring event. The event not only allowed us to inspire young minds but also reinforced our commitment to community engagement and professional development. Engaging with the students and sharing our knowledge and passion was a rewarding experience for our team. Community engagement events like these are crucial for building a brighter future and fostering the next generation of leaders and innovators. We look forward to future collaborations and continuing to support the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we are building a brighter future.
